Have you ever prayed: “I hope I don’t get caught?” When you really should be
praying: “Thank God I was caught?”
Getting caught may be the best thing that ever happened to us…it may move us toward
making an honest confession.
Story of Achan is a story of a man who sinned and got caught (Josh 7:1-26). Most of time
the moral of this story is don’t sin in the first place…but I think there is something redeeming
the Achan story…a confession that I think gets overlooked.
Another story of someone who sinned and gets caught is the woman caught in adultery
(John 8:2-11). In this story, the tables are turned…the accusers get caught and slink away from
their judgmental position.
Getting caught is essential if we hope to grow…if we hope to discover good news (1 Jn
1:8-10).
