Super Bowl Sunday has a funny way of turning even the most casual fans into prayer warriors .
“Lord… just one more touchdown… just one more stop…”
But it raises a deeper question: Whose side is God actually on?

Is God backing the strongest team? The loudest crowd? The ones with the best stats?
Scripture gives us a surprising answer: sometimes… God isn’t on either side (Josh 5:13–15) .

Sure, God empowered David to take down Goliath (1 Sam 17:45–47) —but was God automatically on David’s side no matter what?
Or is it more true that God consistently sides with the oppressed—the hurting, the overlooked, the ones crying out for justice (Ex 3:1–10; Lam 2:11–12; 3:22–24, 31) ?

Throughout Scripture, God pushes back against abusive power (Gen 12:1–3; 16:1–18) and lifts up those who suffer, regardless of their background, culture, or story .

So maybe the real question isn’t “Is God on my side?”
Maybe it’s… am I on the side of those God cares most about?

When we pray for, care for, and stand with the oppressed—no matter who they are or where they come from—we step into the heart of God.
And that, more than anything, is how we break through to the Other Side .
