He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!
This is the battle cry of those who have broken through to the Other Side… And I hope something each of us can repeat wholeheartedly on this Resurrection morning.
But the truth of the matter is that the Risen Jesus was invisible or unrecognizable to his first disciples and remains so for us today. All disciples past and present only see the risen Jesus in one of his many disguises a few of which are:
1) The Disguise Tears and Fears (Jn 20:11-16)
2) The Disguise of Doubt and Disbelief (Jn 20:19-27
3) The Disguise of Discouragement and Depression (Lk 24:14-17)
4) The Disguise of the Ordinary and Mundane (Lk 24:28-31)
5) The Disguise of Mixed Feelings (Matt 28:1-8)
Could it be that our purpose in life is to uncover Jesus in all of his many and varied disguises?
