This morning I want to talk about the importance of receiving a little nudge…a gentle reminder…to do the thing or things we are supposed to do…things that we want to do but maybe aren’t really in the groove right now.
Actually, Peter’s second letter begins as a reminder…a little nudge…to maintain focus on the things you really need to know are important (2 Pt 1:12-15)…reminders that we are much loved children of God (2 Pt 1:16-17)…reminders that come to us through God’s prophetic word (2 Pt 1:18-21).
In a very special way, God sends his little nudges to us through his Spirit (Jn 16:7) with continual reminders of what Jesus has taught us and wants to teach us (Jn 14:24-27).
Then in an acted out parable, Jesus invites us to remember his body (1 Cor 11:23-24) and blood (1 Cor 11:25-26). Little reminders that through Jesus’s brokenness and suffering and our brokenness and suffering, we enter into God’s salvation.
