This morning I want to talk to those of us who hate being vulnerable…and use blindness as a metaphor.
When Jesus talked about his own ministry, it was a place where the blind, where the vulnerable could come and find healing (Matt 11:1-6).
Sometimes Jesus needed more than one touch to heal the vulnerable blind (Mark 8:22- 25)…Nevertheless, it was these types of people who received his primary attention (Lk 18:35- 43).
Although most people in Jesus’ day attributed blindness and vulnerability to sin, not so with Jesus (Jn 9:1-5). He was even willing to heal this problem on the Sabbath, breaking with tradition and spurning condemnation (Jn 9:13-14). He invites all to examine their own souls and recognize their own blindness and vulnerability so they might see and become whole in a new and miraculous way (Jn 9:17-41).
How have you been blind but now see?
