An applicant for membership must affirm the following core biblical beliefs:
4.1 Bible. The Bible is the final source of truth regarding the nature and character of God and our relationship to him. What is important to God is not mere knowledge, but rather, putting into practice his instructions for life. (2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16; 1 Peter 1:20-21)
4.2 God. God has revealed himself to us as the Trinity--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
4.3 Jesus. God revealed himself to us most fully when he became a man known as Jesus and lived among us as our Friend, Savior, and Lord. (John 1:1-4; Philippians 2:6-11)
4.4 People. God created people in his own image so that they might have a personal relationship with him. However, our sin (selfishness and disobedience) separated us from God. What we need is forgiveness for our wrong-doing and a change of life through a spiritual rebirth. (Romans 3:23; 1 John 1:8-9)
4.5 Sacrifice. Jesus’ perfect life and sacrificial death paid the penalty for our sin and offers us an opportunity to reestablish a relationship with God. (Romans 6:23; 1 Peter 3:18)
4.6 Salvation. All who place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ and come to know him as their personal Savior and Lord will be saved for all eternity. (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:12; John 3:16)
4.7 Spirit. God’s Spirit is central in the process of spiritual rebirth. He leads those outside of Christ to faith, and causes them to grow into the likeness of Christ. (John 16:7-11; Acts 1:8; Galatians 5:22-25)
4.8 Church. All believers committed to following Jesus are linked together in a fellowship known as the body of Christ. All members of this fellowship are designed to grow to maturity and to use their gifts to serve in the world meaningfully. (1 Corinthians 12:1-31; Romans 12:1- 8; Ephesians 4:7-16)
4.9 Return of Christ. Someday, possibly soon, our Lord Jesus Christ will return to the earth to claim his own people and to set all things in order. (Matthew 24:36-44; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
