The Kingdom Restores Through Open Doors

John 10:6-15

I am a believer that life works best when the right doors are opened to us at the right time.. and no door is more important than the one that leads to the Kingdom of God. One verse that highlights this door is Rev 3:20: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”

A lot of people have pictured this as our heart’s door opening up to the arrival of Christ’s Spirit…He gently knocks and waits upon our response.

Another biblical picture has to do with the door or gate of Hell (Matt 16:13-18)… a challenging or triumphant picture of the Rock of our salvation damming up Satan’s pathway into our world. Unfortunately, at times we serve as gate of hell, a conduit of Satan’s evil activities (Col 3:5-11).

Then we have the picture of the narrow path and the narrow door (Matt 7:13-14)… a reminder of how difficult it is to discover or enact God’s purposes. Finally, the wonderful reminder that ultimately, Jesus is the Door (John 10:6-15), an invitation to the best of life. Remember to knock so that that door will open (Matt 7:7)
